The Botu Extender Test Kit includes 100 ml of each of Botu Extenders for fresh or cooled equine semen. The four equine semen extenders used for horse breeding that are included in this Botu kit are: Botusemen Standard, Botusemen Special, Botusemen Gold, Botusemen Turbo.
Botusemen Standard is an equine semen extender for safe sperm transport. Its current formulation enables the safe transport of spermatozoa until the time of insemination or during the centrifugation process for freezing protocols. Suitable for most stallions.
Botusemen Special is an extender specially developed for stallions more susceptible to cold damage. Its composition is based on adding essential lipids to maintain the plasma membrane stability during the cooling process. To improve your results, use Botusemen Special during centrifugation in freezing protocols.
Botusemen Gold is a high fertility semen extender diluent based on casein and cholesterol. Casein is a protein that interacts with calcium ions and prevents detrimental effects of seminal plasma semen by binding to HSP proteins, reducing lipid loss from the plasma membrane. The exclusive combination of casein and cholesterol enhances the stability of the sperm membrane, preserving motility and viability during storage and cooling. Botusemen Gold increases the longevity and fertility rates of stallions’ semen.

Storage: After mixing the contents of the sachet with sterile water, store it at 2 to 8°C (35.6 to 46.4°F) for up to 3 days.

How to use Botusemen Standard, Botusemen Special, Botusemen Turbo: For cooled transport, semen should be refrigerated at 5 °C (41 °F). The minimum dilution rate for preserving sperm motility during storage is 2 parts extender to 1 part semen, aiming for a final sperm concentration of 30 to 50 million total sperm per mL.
How to Prepare Botusemen Gold: Add the entire envelope contents to the bottle containing 100 mL of distilled water. Shake well. Place the bottle in a water bath at 37°C for 30 minutes and shake again until complete homogenization. After semen dilution, wait 15 minutes to allow the active ingredients to interact with the sperm membrane.
Important: In cases where centrifugation before the cooling process is necessary, resuspend the sperm pellet at a final concentration of 100 million total sperm per mL.
